Fender produced a relatively small number of Custom Shop and Made in Japan Telecoustics with all wood bodies around 1990 but this mass production model introduced in 2000 was of somewhat lower quality than these early models. It has a Telecaster style thinline body and trademark Telecaster headstock shape, a solid spruce top, one-piece fiberglass body, die-cast tuners, bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fretboard.

There have been some changes to the electronics of this model, which by 2014 was known as the Fender Standard Telecoustic model and had the Fishman Isys™ III pickup/preamp system with a built-in tuner. The bridge has also changed with the newer models having the Fender "Viking"-style rosewood bridge. The newer models have a chequerboard soundhole rosette.
